Week 2 of The Sea-Teacher`s Program

As my second week in the SEA Teacher program began, I started to feel more settled in my new environment. The excitement from the first week continued, but now it was time to focus more on my teaching journey. This week was filled with school activities, classroom observations, and my first experience handling a class.

Opening Ceremony at the Cooperating School

The week started with the official opening ceremony at our assigned cooperating school. The teachers and students warmly welcomed us, making us feel like part of their community. What made this event even more special was that it coincided with the school’s talent show. Seeing students perform with confidence and enthusiasm was truly inspiring. Their dedication to the arts, music, and dance reflected their vibrant school culture.

Classroom Observations and Teaching Preparation

After the opening ceremony, I began my classroom observations. I was assigned to Ma’am Sarah’s class, where I observed her teaching techniques and classroom management strategies. My student buddy, Joanna, accompanied me and helped me understand how lessons were delivered and how students engaged in the learning process. I also had the opportunity to observe Joanna’s class and join her during motivation activities. These experiences were very insightful, as they helped me understand the students better before I started teaching.

First Time Handling a Class

One of the biggest highlights of this week was handling a class for the first time. I was both excited and nervous, but Ma’am Sarah encouraged me to take this opportunity to practice and gain confidence. She advised me to keep improving in preparation for my final demo. Standing in front of the class, I realized how important it was to connect with the students and create an engaging learning experience for them. Though it was challenging, it was a great learning experience that helped me grow as a teacher.

Mr. and Ms. Education Event

Aside from teaching activities, we also attended the Mr. and Ms. Education event at Capiz State University, Pontevedra Campus. It was an amazing experience to see all the candidates showcase their talents and public speaking skills. The event highlighted the importance of confidence and communication, which are crucial for future educators. It was truly inspiring to witness the dedication and passion of the participants.

Weekend Cultural Trip to Eco Park and Ang Panublion Museum

To end the week, we had a cultural trip to Eco Park. This was a refreshing break from our academic activities, allowing us to explore nature and experience more of the local environment. The trip was not only fun but also an opportunity to bond with fellow SEA Teacher participants and our student buddies.
